PLUGGING HOLES

Morning USA....I am happy to report that my first Civilian Trauma Medicine Course was a success with all participants. There were seven students and each voiced a much better understanding of how a real life situation might present itself. An extremely graphic PP presentation, with most of the images coming from my time in Iraq, really hit home. The course covered Stab wounds...GSW, Blunt Trauma, Burns and Eenvironmental (heat) related injuries. Treatment options were kept to the basics.....much along the lines of when many of us OLD EMS folks were forced to do wonders with very little in the way of equipment/gear/supplies.
The last segment involved subjecting two pork roasts to several rounds of 9mm hollow points. Nothing better than this to demonstrate the type wounds this ammo will produce.I am hoping to ofter this class again in late June...keep an eye on the web site calendar. for dates and times. SACRED GROUND

As an instructor coach and teacher I have found that there is one line where I tread cautiously before crossing. That is the line of trying to advise a parent (usually male) that the firearm instruction they are giving their child (usually a son) is either slightly flawed or downright dangerous. This is a time honored event that I too experienced with my own father when I was a boy growing up in the mountains of West Virginia.

As with anything..learning a potentially live saving skill should be taught by competent and experienced instructors. More than one husband/boyfriend has found this to be true when trying to teach their opposite number. Most of these episodes end with frustration on the part of both parties.

So its up to you as a parent or well meaning spouse,,,,,seek first rate instruction for what could be a life saving skill!  Call NSTT today!
