melbourne Gun Show Nov 19-20

I would like to thank all my prior students, friends and people in general that stopped by to say hello and inquire about my training programs during this weekend at the Melbourne Gun Show...............

I noticed that there were still those that choose to become a " One Shot Wonder" but I look at it as a persons choice. Unfortunately we all pay for and/or reap the rewards of our choices. Any professional will tell you that training is ALWAYS at the center of success!!    So..do you want to be the winner/survivor of a deadly encounter? Or do you want to come in second place?  Second place is also know as FIRST LOSER !!

Which will you choose to be!!

FREE means FREE

Hello all.
Well another Saturday has passed at Action Gun Outfitters where I shoot AND offer FREE lessons almost every weekend. I usually put up a sign outside by the side walk and another right beside the lane where I shoot. Never fails that when I see someone not shooting well or in an unsafe manner and offer my assistance they will ask me " Oh..are the lessons really free? "  Ya know u can lead a horse to water,,,,Maybe if I start charging my usual hourly rate I will get better response??
Moving along.....had the pleasure and honor to speak about gun ownership at the Winter Park Rotary Club breakfast this morning...
Remember...............its not unmanly or unlady like to take a shooting lesson ! Believe me guys,,,,never try to teach your wife or gal pal how to shoot...let me do it.....I will keep you out of the doghouse!!!

The TRUE value of a lesson

Lets see now,,,its Saturday morning and you are off to the gun range to practice with your pistol, So,,,its $10 for the range time...$25 (or more) for 2 boxes of ammo and about $5 for targets. Your all set to practice your self defense shooting techniques.  You load your magazines/speedloaders...take up a flat footed ,,rocked back on your heels stance with a cup and saucer grip and proceed to engage your target that has been placed at exactly the same distance that you use every week.. You carefully aim...pull the trigger and BAM...you hit the bulls eye!  But...with the following shots you notice your not doing to well....you decide to go buy  go buy more ammo and targets,,Then again,,maybe you need a laser sight or a new set of high tech high dollar aftermarket sights to go on your pistol??

Does this scenario sound familiar?? Are you tired of spending your hard earned dollars and seeing NO improvement?  Taking a  SINGLE lesson from a trained and experienced professional can make all the difference in the world.. ( Key words here being PROFESSIONAL and EXPERIENCED) I guarantee you will shoot better in one lesson or I will refund your money! Call and book a lesson today!

The 'Will To Win" /"Will to Survive"

On any given day you can talk to just about any hard working law abiding citizen about "surviving" an attack by a criminal and they will (especially the men) proudly tell you how they fight to their dying breath to protect themselves and loved ones ! They will thump their chests and spout quotations from various gun magazine articles and proclaim  they will never be a victim! Sadly though and all to often good law abiding men and women are struck down because they DO NOT HAVE THE WILL TO PRACTICE and PREPARE TO WIN !  A profound statement indeed! Many thanks to Mr. Michael Jordan the great basketball player for these words of wisdom. Do YOU have the will to PRACTICE and WIN? Call me and schedule a class today!

One Shot Wonders of the World!

Hello friends and neighbors! Its time once again for insight to the realm of guns, self defense and one shot wonders. To you that know me you are aware of my background in armed personal protection and firearms teaching in general. For the past 6 weeks I have been offering FREE shooting lessons at the local range on Saturday mornings and it has become a rare thing if anyone actually asks me for help. Fully 98% of the people I see on the range shoot poorly but still let their egos get in the way,,,,especially men trying to teach their spouse/girlfriend how to shoot. Oh sure,, they have their Florida Concealed Weapons Permit. They took the 'one shot" course at the local gun show and now are an authority on how to teach someone how to use a pistol for self defense. It becomes very obvious very quickly that the " One Shot Wonders" haven't a clue..They have their "students" stand on the range and shoot at a paper target with a nice fat bulls eye and never once have them shoot under stress/duress..The use of a deadly weapon is not something to take lightly ! So..what should you look for in an instructor?
1. What is their background in carrying a weapon for self defense and/or the protection of others?
2. Do they have "real time" experience in a hostile environment?
3. Do they practice at least twice a week?
4. How many instructor level schools have they attended?
5. Do they have a money back guarantee concerning your training?
Finally..if you want to learn how tp protect yourself and your loved ones from violent crime,,then please call me....If you want to learn how to shoot (badly) then trot on down to the next gun show and fire your "one shot" get your Florida CWP and become a menace to yourself and loved ones....Have a great day!

BUMPS IN THE NITE AND RED LASER LIGHTS

Morning USA!
I know I am going to catch alot of flak on this posting, but i really don't care!. My whole purpose of getting into firearms training is to try and educate you, the consumer, to be a more informed, better trained and SAFE firearms owner! This is a bit carried over from my last blog where I discussed the meaning of the word 'TACTICAL" and how it has morphed into a real cash cow for some over the last ten years.
Today's blog is on the ever popular laser sights that many gun owners seem to think will make them a deadly shot in any circumstance. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Becoming a good solid shooter will ALWAYS be based on the five basics of marksmanship. Grip, stance, trigger control, sight picture and follow thru. If anything,a shooter should be become proficient FIRST then perhaps consider a laser sight if that $200 (or more) is burning a hole in your pocket. Sure a laser looks "high speed" and 'cool" on the range but do you really need it? Far to many shooters are relying strictly on the laser and then wonder why they are still a poor shot. Its very simple....They have forsaken the five basics of shooting.
SO before you go blow that hard earned money, consider spending a portion of it on ammo and lessons from me.  I guarantee you will shoot better in ONE lesson. In fact, if you can out shoot me in any of my self defense drills prior to the planned lesson, I will pay for your ammo and range time!
Learn to shoot, Learn to survive ! refuse to be a victim!

Too much ' TACTICAL" for our own good?

When I started doing security work in Iraq in 2003 there was little if any mention of the word "Tactical"... Now it seems everything and anything related to self defence carries this term! True,,my own company name carries this term but for a good reason! The term "Tactical" is defined as : " A planned response to a given situation."
The powers that be have taken this term and turned it into a marketing tool for everything from a cell phone carrying case to socks! Anyone and everyone who makes or supplies anything related to firearms, gear, clothing, etc..  want you to believe that in order for you to be prepared for the worst you must have "Tactical" gear.
My philosophy is to educate and train using the KISS method. I will teach you the basic skills on which all levels of marksmanship and self defense are based. I continue to see shooters that spend mega $$$ on aftermarket gadgets and such and still shoot poorly. The primary reason being they have never properly learned the basics of shooting. So in closing this segment,,think about this,,,you can spend $150 on a set of 'Tactical" pistol sights...or $5 on several bottles of nail polish,,Now you have $145.00 left for ammo and 2-3 hours worth of lessons.. Do the math!
